We figured we’ll keep going with the wedding invitation posts all this week.
This letterpress invitation is an exquisite balance of wickerwork ornament and type. The graphic ribbon creates a wonderful sense of dimension as it intertwines the ornamental panels. The script font combines with the serif and italic fonts to establish a sophisticated typographic texture. It is also fitting that the invitations are designed as a joint effort between the bride and groom. Check out Cleves work here and Brookes work here. Very nicely done invites! We especially like the touch of the little chirping bird throughout the layouts.
The letterpress work here required some intricate inking to keep the fine details of the pattern open and the ink density heavy enough for even coverage. And the register needed to be spot on for the knockout areas to produce that sense of dimension. The cards are printed on 100% cotton Crane Lettra Flo. White 110lb cover stock with a tactile surface that is all class.
